I've been looking for carpet in my master bedroom and my repeated experience going to the big-box stores was disappointing in terms of their hit-n-miss service, product knowledge and most importantly, the limited selection. If you really want your flooring to reflect your personal style, Brentwood is your store. My recent personal experience is with the Raleigh location.

Service - I have no doubt you will receive personal service, their Sales Associates are very helpful (neighborly, not push) and they are adequately staffed (a rare concept these days), but this means when there are multiple customers in the store, your questions will readily be answered. I was assisted by Gerry Odom - a real guy with a great sense of humor.

Knowledge - The store was founded in 1974 and it is locally owned and operated. The staff have extensive years in the carpet/flooring industry and will candidly share the pros and cons of many different types of flooring.

Selection - As soon as I walked in the door I knew I had found "the place".. berbers, loops, twists, frieze, rugs, hardwoods, laminates, ceramic tile, carpet cushion, and vinyl. They also have a GREAT selection of eco-friendly flooring: veneered hardwood, bamboo, cork, smartstrand carpet, and even... wait for it... recycled leather!

Pricing - They will gladly work within your budget and for my situation, they were a lot less than HD - even with their promo going on! Brentwood's price includes installation, removal, and 8lb padding. They will come out and measure for free, with no deposit/commitment required.

My suggestion is to go to the big-box store first, note the four points I've mentioned above, and then go to Brentwood. You will surely see the difference."
